STT Training

STT Risk Management as a matter of policy provides all security agents with training to Fetac Level 6 at minimum in Conflict Management. The following are key objectives of the training each agent receives:

  • Develop a greater awareness of their personal style in dealing with conflict
  • Understand how their personal style impacts on the management of conflict
  • Develop an analytical framework for understanding and managing conflict in the workplace

The course content concentrates on practical, real world, aggression diffusion techniques. The training is interactive which allows for the immediate transfer of learning and techniques into the workplace. Scenarios are explored taken from different STT Risk Management workplaces looking at the aspects involved that caused, sustained or increased the levels of aggression. Agents are given an understanding of conflict and how they can reduce levels of aggression through their words, body language and positioning as well as many tricks of the trade used by security and law enforcement specialists throughout the world. Best practice is outlined when dealing with a single or multiple aggressors as well as recognizing real or hollow threats. Importantly the course is modeled on the training needs of each group. At the outset of each course agents provide examples of the issues they face, and questions or queries they would like to cover. Answering these concerns becomes a central part of every course. This ensures maximum learner participation and relevance of the training to the workplace.
